A three form entry primary school in east Ipswich, Suffolk. Part of the Gippeswyk Community Educational Trust.
Britannia is a thriving school in the south of Ipswich with 656 pupils, including a 26 place nursery. Our vision is to develop responsible citizens, confident individuals and independent learners.
We strive to provide an outstanding learning environment with rich educational experiences. Our aim is to deliver a curriculum for life and not just for school which is why we value the arts, humanities, science, physical and mental health as well as the academic subjects of English and Mathematics that nurture the whole child, valuing childhood itself as well as preparing our children to be successful, contributing citizens of our society.
Sport and PE is a strength at Britannia and we are extremely proud of our sporting achievements both at local level, county level and even nationally in some of our sports. We have a strong team of teachers and teaching assistants who promote sport and physical exercise as we all know the benefits this has not only for our health but also our emotional wellbeing. We believe sport develops character, builds confidence and brings people together.
Music and singing is also a vehicle for bringing people together and we love any opportunity to sing and play instruments, whether it be for the intrinsic rewards of learning a new piece, for entertaining the local community or simply for pleasure. Music is a universal language.
Creativity can be found and developed in all areas of the curriculum. The photographs in our gallery will give you a flavour of that. Diversity is celebrated through the richness of culture within our school community because we know that learning is a social construction, where we learn from each other and with each other.
