What the school offers its staff

Drayton Community Primary is a thriving, oversubscribed school situated close to Abingdon in South Oxfordshire. This is an exciting time to join our school community following our recent Ofsted inspection and a new leadership team.

The school has excellent transport links and is conveniently located for the a34/m4, Oxford, Abingdon, Didcot, Wallingford and Wantage.

We are currently looking for an experienced teacher to work in Year 6 in the first instance and we welcome applications for people interested in full time or part time.

The school’s leadership team is mindful of teacher workload and this is reflected in sensible feedback, assessment and planning expectations. Guided by research, teachers focus their time and energy on the things that make a difference in the classroom. The school empowers colleagues, via structured professional learning opportunities, to flourish in the ever changing world of education.

Expectations and routines are thoughtfully developed and well implemented. Our school is therefore a calm and purposeful place in which to learn. Recent parent/carer and pupil surveys demonstrate that pupils feel safe, valued and that they have a deep love of learning.

Our past Ofsted inspection accurately identified one of the school’s main strengths when they stated: ‘The emphasis the school places on academic excellence, as well as the arts, inspires and energises the entire community'. The curriculum is bespoke to our pupils and to the community we serve. It is sequenced in such a way that enables pupils to gather rich knowledge, while at the same time affording teachers to freedom to work collaboratively and creatively. We look forward to publishing our most recent inspection report when it has gone through the quality assurance process. We would ideally like the role to be from 1.1.24, but asap after that is fine.
