Teacher of Art and Design Maternity Cover job summary

Required for January 2027, or sooner. Stopsley High School is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, high quality teacher of Art and Design Technology. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Stopsley High School initially on a one-year maternity cover contract. There is potential for the successful candidate to continue in a permanent role beyond the maternity cover period, subject to the availability of a permanent vacancy and the Trust's usual recruitment processes.

The role would be suitable for an experienced teacher or an Early Careers Teacher (ECT). The successful candidate will have experience in teaching Art or Design Technology. Some experience in teaching both subjects would be desirable, but not essential.

The successful candidate will be joining an energetic, experienced and highly ambitious team. They will demonstrate real enthusiasm for teaching Art and Design Technology, and a willingness to work to make an already established department even stronger with a full programme of CPD and ECT support available.

Stopsley High School has been on a rapid improvement journey which included academising in September 2021 and joining the Middlesex Learning Trust. The School has benefitted from collaborative networking across the three schools, opportunities to showcase best practice and access to innovative training opportunities. All of this hard work culminated in an incredibly positive Ofsted outcome under the new framework in June 2026.
