About Broadwater School
History and Ethos
Established in 1968, Broadwater School is a co-educational comprehensive school for students aged 11 – 16. On the smaller side, our current student population is approximately 560.

At Broadwater School we strive for excellence in every aspect of our work. The idea contained in our school motto ‘By Increments Conquer’ sets out that students can achieve by breaking challenging tasks into more manageable chunks. High expectations of our students, our staff and our relationships ensure that we are all able to achieve personal, social and academic success.

The school has developed a climate for learning and a sense of community in a friendly, encouraging and positive environment, hence our unique ethos: "We care about our students and know their hopes, dreams and aspirations. We are a school in the community for the community."

Mrs Lizzi Matthews, BSc (Hons), PGCE

P4C School
P4C is an approach to teaching and learning that highly challenges both students and teachers to think and question more deeply. At Broadwater we have embraced the 4Cs (Collaborative, Critical, Creative and Caring thinking) and place them at the heart of everything we do.
Broadwater was the second secondary school nationally to achieve a Gold Award from Sapere for our commitment and achievement in P4C and is a Lead P4C School.

Broadwater School is situated between Godalming and Guildford in Surrey. The mainline station of Farncombe is 10 minutes’ walk from the school and is on the main Waterloo to Portsmouth line. On-site parking is available.

Our modern and well-equipped school buildings are situated in spacious grounds with extensive sports facilities. We have 2 all-weather pitches (one sand based and one water based), an up to date Fitness Suite and a Dance Studio. We have recently refurbished our Science Labs, have built a new ICT Suite (including the provision of laptops) and this year made a significant investment through the replacement of all school windows.

We are fully committed to our staff’s continuing professional development and offer a wide range of training opportunities. We support training at all levels to ensure progression, from NQT induction programmes all the way up to NPQH.

Some of our investment targets for the near future are: expansion of dining hall, provision of a new 3G pitch, the resurfacing of our netball/tennis courts and the replacement and upgrading of our all-weather pitches.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students and expects all staff to share this commitment.
