What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint an inspiring and well qualified classroom teacher, from September 2025, to join a very successful Art & Photography department. Art & Photography are popular subjects at the school and there is a thirst for learning amongst the pupils. It is desirable to be able to teach both subjects, but this is not essential as there is some flexibility within the department.
The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and organised teacher with a good knowledge of the subjects. It is essential to be able to teach the full age and ability range up to GCSE. Ideally, the successful candidate would be able to teach both subjects to ‘A’ Level, however, this is not essential as there is some flexibility in the department and coaching would be available. The Department works well together as a team, sharing good ideas and supporting each other. Full time or part-time can be considered.

Thomas Mills High School is a very special, distinctive and successful school. Its focus on an academic education for all, alongside personal development for pupils is increasingly, in the current educational landscape, unique. Pupils are able to access a broad and balanced curriculum and all subjects, including the arts, are thriving. Visitors quite rightly comment on the calm and purposeful atmosphere, and one parent observed ‘it’s cool to learn here’.
