What skills and experience we're looking for
York High School is looking to appoint an inspirational teacher with a proven record of outstanding practice, or the potential to become outstanding with our support, to work within our PE team.
The PE team at York High School consists of 4 highly motivated and enthusiastic members of staff who are committed to promoting the long term health and well-being of the young people of York High School as well as the wider community.
The successful candidate must have the ability to teach across the age and ability range, and inspire, motivate and challenge young people. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to contributing to the personal development of all the young people we teach.
At KS3, all pupils have 2 hours of core PE every week, which includes a broad range of sporting, fitness and leisure based activities. At KS4, pupils have 3 hours of core PE over two weeks. The programme further develops skills from KS3 and offers pupils the opportunity to try new sports. Our programme is designed to allow full access to the facilities at Energise Sports Centre, which is located directly next to the school. In addition to core PE, the department currently offers an OCR Cambridge National qualification in Sport Studies.
Interviews will be held during the week commencing 27 November 2023.
We would strongly encourage any prospective candidate to visit the school. Please email Dawn Becton at d.becton@yorkhigh.southbank.academy if you would like to arrange a visit to the school.
