What skills and experience we're looking for

Katharine Lady Berkeley's School wishes to appoint an enthusiastic member of staff to teach physical education from 1st September 2024.

This is a full-time permanent contract, which is suitable for both ECTs and applicants with previous teaching experience, to teach PE from KS3 to KS5. Early Careers Teachers are appointed on Point 2 of the Main Scale to provide some assistance with the costs of travelling.

The successful candidate will have:

What the school offers its staff

Katharine Lady Berkeley’s is a large comprehensive school of 1525 students with 265 in the Sixth Form. A high performing school that sits at the heart of the local community with extensive links to the surrounding area, the school is within easy commuting distance of Bristol and Gloucester being just 10 minutes from Junction 14 of the M5.

The school runs an extensive extra-curricular programme, catering for a wide range of activities from a recreational level up to elite level sport. The major sports played by the boys are hockey, rugby, football, cricket and athletics. These run alongside a range of clubs in less traditional sports such as fencing, handball and archery. The successful candidate will be expected to teach boys’ PE in Years 7 to 11 and mixed groups at GCSE and at A Level.

The school has outstanding onsite facilities, as well as extensive playing fields. We have a full size sports hall, fitness suite, dance studio, six netball courts, a 3G Astro and full size sand-based AstroTurf. As part of the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme we have a new activity studio with changing rooms which has replaced our gymnasium.
