Teacher of Business Studies and Economics job summary

Could you inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, economists and innovators?

Behind every successful entrepreneur, creative thinker or future business leader is often a teacher who first sparked their curiosity.

Could you be that teacher?

We have a potential exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and inspiring Teacher of Business Studies and Economics to join our school community, subject to confirmation of the vacancy.

We are looking for someone who can bring the world of business and economics to life, helping young people understand not just how the world works, but how they might one day shape it.

Whether you are exploring the decisions behind global businesses, encouraging students to challenge economic thinking or inspiring their first entrepreneurial ideas, you will have the opportunity to make learning relevant, engaging and full of possibility.

The ability to teach Mathematics or Computing at Key Stage 3 would be desirable, but is not essential.

What makes you the right person for us?

We are looking for much more than someone who knows their subject. We want a teacher who can make students curious, confident and excited about learning.

Someone who:

  • Brings enthusiasm, creativity and excellent subject knowledge into the classroom.

  • Makes Business Studies and Economics relevant to the real world, encouraging students to think critically and independently.

  • Has high expectations of every learner and the determination to help them succeed.

  • Creates engaging, inclusive lessons that inspire students of all abilities.

  • Builds positive, respectful relationships with students, colleagues and families.

  • Believes that education is about developing the whole person, not simply achieving examination results.

  • Will actively support and contribute to the Catholic ethos and values of our school community.

Most importantly, you will be someone who believes in the potential of young people and understands the lasting difference that an inspirational teacher can make.

What will you be doing?

You will deliver engaging and purposeful lessons in Business Studies and Economics, planning and adapting your teaching to meet the needs of individual learners.

You will assess progress, celebrate achievement and provide the encouragement and challenge students need to reach their potential.

As a valued member of our teaching team, you will also contribute to the wider life of the school, working collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive, inclusive and ambitious learning environment.

Why join our Trust?

At St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, we believe that great schools are built by great people.

Our family of 25 Catholic schools, spanning Derby City, Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Nottinghamshire and Stockport, is united by a shared commitment to providing exceptional educational experiences and opportunities for every child.

We recognise that supporting and investing in our colleagues is essential to achieving that ambition.

When you join us, you can look forward to:

  • Investing in your future: Excellent continuing professional development opportunities, including access to our Leadership Academy and meaningful professional learning.

  • Opportunities to grow: Genuine career development and progression opportunities across our 25 academies and the wider Diocese of Nottingham family of 83 schools.

  • A strong pension: Membership of the Teachers' Pension Scheme, including valuable employer contributions.

  • Support when you need it: Access to a confidential, independent Employee Assistance Programme, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • Fair and transparent employment: Nationally agreed teachers' pay and conditions.

  • A community with purpose: The opportunity to work alongside dedicated colleagues who share a commitment to helping every young person flourish academically, socially and spiritually.

Could this be your next chapter?

If you are passionate about your subject, excited by the possibilities of teaching and ready to inspire young minds, we would love to hear from you.

This is currently a potential vacancy, and any appointment will be subject to confirmation that the position is available.

We welcome interest from teachers who share our commitment to high-quality education, inclusion and helping every young person become the very best they can be.

Bring your knowledge. Share your passion. Inspire their future.
