Hampton Gardens is seeking a full-time Teacher of Chemistry (Maternity Cover) to join our dynamic and supportive Science Department from January 2027. This is a fixed-term maternity cover position, with the duration of the contract linked to the substantive postholder's maternity leave and return to work.

About the DepartmentThe Science Department is committed to ensuring that all students feel safe, supported and confident in their learning whilst striving for academic excellence. This commitment is underpinned by a culture of continuous improvement that places the needs of students and staff at the forefront of everything we do.
Our department is exceptionally well equipped with modern laboratory facilities, enabling engaging and effective practical science lessons. Our ethos is simple: practical activities are central to great science teaching, and our facilities enable this to happen every day.
The department has developed a Key Stage 3 curriculum that prepares students thoroughly for their Key Stage 4 Science pathways. We currently offer AQA GCSE Combined Science (Trilogy), AQA GCSE Physics, AQA GCSE Biology and AQA GCSE Chemistry. At Key Stage 5, we offer OCR A Level Physics, OCR A Level Biology and OCR A Level Chemistry.
Outside the classroom, Science students at Hampton Gardens benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including a thriving weekly STEM Club with strong links to local businesses, visits to universities, and participation in national science competitions.
What You’ll Be Doing- Deliver engaging lessons that spark curiosity and foster a love for Chemistry.
- Contribute to curriculum development and departmental initiatives.
- Use effective assessment strategies to support student progress and achievement.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, engagement in lessons and academic success.
- Play an active role in our thriving STEM community through clubs, trips, and competitions.
- Support students in your role as a form tutor, working closely with the pastoral team.

Hampton Gardens is an 11-19 free school which opened in September 2017 to an initial intake of 180 Year 7 students. When full, the school will accommodate 1200 students in years 7-11 and 300 students in Sixth Form.
Hampton Gardens is part of the Hampton Academies Trust who also run the highly successful and popular Hampton College all-through school, Hampton Lakes Primary School and Dogsthorpe Infant School. HAT schools have very close links and some shared staff.
