We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Chemistry to join our successful and well-resourced Chemistry Department.

Chemistry at Borlase

The Chemistry department comprises the Head of Chemistry, three teachers of Chemistry (two part time) and a chemistry technician. The Chemistry department has three classrooms, a prep room, chemical cupboard and a technician office, situated in the Science block with the Biology and Physics departments.

STEM at Borlase is a vibrant, exciting faculty with specialists in their subjects teaching across the curriculum. Chemistry students at Borlase are encouraged to be independent in their learning, to be curious and to extend their understanding beyond the curriculum. A lot of emphasis is placed on practical work, and students are given the opportunity to develop the ability to make accurate observations, manipulate scientific equipment, analyse data, evaluate methodology and draw conclusions while investigative approaches encourage inquiry-based learning and a greater depth of understanding.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have a strong subject knowledge and a passion for Chemistry
  • Be an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations of all students
  • Be committed to academic excellence and continuous professional development
