Paid Teacher Internship Programme (22nd June - 10th July 2026)
Working Time: Monday - Friday 8:15am - 3:30pm
Government Funded Placement: £1,365 for the full 15 days (£91 p/day).
The Cherwell School is a successful comprehensive school in Oxford, rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted. We are seeking to recruit up to 14 university students to be part of our paid teacher internship programme. The programme will run for 3 weeks between Monday 22nd June - Friday 10th July 2026.
This internship is funded by the Department for Education to give current undergraduate and masters students an opportunity to experience what it is like to be a teacher. (Please see the link below)

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is considering a career in teaching. However, there is no expectation of a commitment to teacher training upon completion of the internship.
To meet the entry requirements for this internship you must:
Be a current undergraduate or masters student in at least your second year of study.
Be studying a university course related to
Chemistry
Physics
Maths
Computer Science
MFL (French, Spanish or German)
Design & Technology
Being assigned to a mentor/teacher who specialises in your subject area
Be able to observe different year groups.
Bespoke specialist training on topics such as
Student Behaviour Management
Supporting SEND students
Teaching & Learning
The Role of a Tutor
Safeguarding/Anti-Sexual Harassment
An opportunity to teach a segment of a lesson and receive feedback
Opportunity to visit a local primary school
No prior school experience is required to be part of this internship. However, the right candidate will need to be enthusiastic about making a positive difference to young people’s lives and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
Opportunities as part of this internship include:
Interns will need to be based within travelling distance to The Cherwell School (parking is available on site). There is not available funding for accommodation for interns.
