Teacher of Design and Technology job summary

The Technology Department at Newton Abbot College is at a very exciting stage in its development and, due to the movement of one teacher into a new career route, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to recruit a new teacher to the team. Recent in-college data for student outcomes highlights improving outcomes. The Department has benefited from quite a recent capital improvement project in two new Food rooms and a new Textiles room which has also enabled the whole department to exist on one site, increasing the sense of ‘team’ and facilitating collaborative working. The team is currently made up of five full-time technology teachers and two full-time technicians. Additionally, the department runs ‘Electric Car Club’ every week where students enjoy the experience of constructing and driving our electric cars and hovercraft. We are very keen to see how this unique equipment could be made available to more students. We are seeking an exceptional individual with enthusiasm, ambition and strong collaborative skills to join our Design and Technology department in the next phase of its curriculum development. A specialism in Food would be an advantage. Your challenge will be to teach high quality and engaging lessons, leading to high levels of student progress. Are you: - an inspirational, dedicated and forward-thinking classroom practitioner - able to teach excellent lessons up to A Level - committed to raising standards - creative, conscientious and enthusiastic? You will: - be able to enthuse and motivate all students - have incredibly high expectations - demonstrate excellent planning, communication and organisational skills - be an excellent team player - believe that all students are capable of success. Whilst we are absolutely determined to recruit the highest calibre Technology teacher available, the ability to teach either of the following would be an advantage: • Food and Catering to Key Stage 5; and • Design and Technology subjects to Key Stage 3 If you think you can make a difference to our students and relish the idea of joining our successful, supportive and highly motivated team in the delivery of excellence in education, then we want to hear from you!
