Within the classroom the college aspires to promote:

Curriculum

We take huge pride in the curriculum we have built, but also understand it is an ever evolving piece of work. All our planning is underpinned by threshold concepts designed to teach students the fundamentals of our subject. We aim to ensure our KS3 provides a strong foundation for their studies at KS4.

At GCSE the department study GCSE Food & Nutrition and GCSE Design & Technology. Notably, teachers take the same approach to teaching Key Stage 4 as to teaching younger students by creating structured lessons that build confidence and independence whilst fostering a passion for our subject.

We use booklets to deliver our lessons at KS3 and KS4. These are booklets we have developed as a team to provide students with high quality resources, inspiring them to take pride in their work and strive for success in their learning. These booklets provide all staff and students with a clear and consistent learning pathway, making our sequencing and learning transparent for all. They also allow staff to spend their time considering the enactment of the curriculum, ensuring time is spent on high quality planning which promotes student talk, checking for understanding and effective scaffolding.
