What skills and experience we're looking for
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Design and Technology, with a particular focus on Hospitality and Catering.
• Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students are encouraged to develop their skills and creativity.
• Use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles, ensuring all students can access the curriculum and make excellent progress.
• Contribute to the development of the Design and Technology curriculum, incorporating contemporary practices and industry standards.
• Participate in the organisation and delivery of extracurricular activities, including clubs, competitions, and events related to Design and Technology.
• Maintain high standards of student behaviour and work collaboratively with colleagues to uphold the values of the academies.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them achieve their full potential.
Person Specification:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology, with a focus on Hospitality and Catering.
• Experience teaching at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the ability to deliver high quality lessons that engage and inspire students.
• A passion for food technology, hospitality, or catering, with the ability to integrate this specialism into the broader curriculum.
• Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and productive learning environment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, working effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and the ability to stay current with educational best practices.
Desirable:
• Experience in teaching Hospitality and Catering at Key Stage 4, including knowledge of relevant qualifications such as the WJEC Level 1/2 in Hospitality and Catering.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a practical teaching environment, particularly in food preparation and handling.
