What skills and experience we're looking for

Langtree School is seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of design technology in our well regarded, highly successful school. The successful candidate will be a creative, inspirational teacher who is ambitious for future promotion. The post would suit either an early career or recently qualified teacher or one who is seeking to develop, or is ready for, subject leadership experience.

What the school offers its staff

Langtree is a dynamic environment in which to work and we are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Design Technology, specialising in Product Design, Graphics or Resistant Materials, who has the energy, enthusiasm and commitment to help us to move the department – and the school - on still further. Langtree is an outstanding school in which to teach. We enjoy the pleasure of working with some excellent young adults who have considerable desire to succeed. The school is situated in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty in rural south Oxfordshire with easy access to Oxford, Reading and London. Our GCSE results are consistently among the best in the county and generally in the top 10% nationally.

At KS3, we run a carousel of technology options which include Food Technology, Design Technology and Product Design (including textiles in Year 8). Students are introduced to appropriate software packages to support their learning including TinkerCAD and 2D Design.

At KS4, our options of GCSE Design and Technology, an internally written Materials Technology course and GCSE Food Technology are all very popular. Standards have risen beyond all expectations in recent years, and Design Technology now boasts some of the highest value added scores in the school.

Langtree School is one of the smallest secondary schools in Oxfordshire, with a current roll of 600 fantastic students. However, our small size is our greatest strength as we are a community in which students are known and valued as individuals and in which they can thrive with the close support of a dedicated team of subject specialist teachers. Many parents choose Langtree for this reason, and we remain heavily oversubscribed for places.
