What the school offers its staff

Beech Academy is a fantastic, inclusive secondary special school with an exciting, engaging curriculum offer. Our designation is that we are a school that specialises in supporting children and young people with moderate learning difficulties and ASD. We aim to inspire our children and young people within high-quality learning environments that support a strong tradition of success. At Beech Academy we take pride in helping our children and young people turn ‘I can’t’ into ‘I can’. Our children are encouraged to explore, discover and problem-solve through a range of exciting learning opportunities both within and outside the classroom, in a calm yet stimulating environment. The curriculum at KS3 is structured to build on knowledge gained at KS2 and is based on a ‘Novel study’ approach across the breadth of National Curriculum subjects. In KS4/5 many of our young people follow a broad range of accredited courses which further offer the opportunity to build on knowledge, skills and understanding gained at KS3 whilst ensuring that there is a clear focus on ‘preparation for adulthood’. Our wider curriculum offer at Beech Academy enables young people to develop their ‘cultural capital’ that further develops their readiness for life in the 21st Century.
