What skills and experience we're looking for

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Colne Community School and College for a Design & Technology Teacher who can help support our Subject Leader for Design & Technology with the running of the department.

Our school is a community in which we believe everyone, students and staff alike, should have the opportunity to be nourished and grow. Therefore, we are seeking to recruit a proactive and forward thinking member of staff to enrich the skills and experience already present in our Design & Technology Team. We aim to foster an inclusive culture where everyone is able to learn from each other. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, confident and diligent.

Our school community is expanding which makes this a particularly unique and exciting time to join our team. We have a brand new teaching block consisting of 8 new classrooms and 4 specialist Design & Technology rooms which are fully equipped, including a metal workshop, two wood/plastics mixed workshops, CAD room and two kitchens using both gas and electric ovens and hobs. A further large scale internal refurbishment will be taking place over the 2022/23 academic year which will further improve our school environment for all.

At KS4, we currently have options in Design & Technology, Engineering and Food Technology. In the past, have also given Graphics and Textiles as options.

Our ARK values of Aspiration, Resilience and Kindness describe the ethos that flows through our school. We expect all members of staff to feed into our values and lead by example to our students. We believe that every member of staff has the potential to impact on student experience and therefore we encourage our staff, both teaching and support, to immerse themselves in our school culture.
