No Excuses in order to foster a learning community where everybody values each other and everybody values the power of learning. We offer a supportive and collegiate working environment where we all have the same goal - outstanding learning for children. We are now one year into building a fresh, optimistic and sustainable culture where staff and students are always fulfilled because they know that they are doing their best work for the right reasons.
Our systems and structures are designed to liberate staff and students, freeing us all up from the challenges of uncertainty and relentless workload which in turn enables creativity, excitement and essentially, it makes coming to school enjoyable for all! To understand this better, do ask to read our Blueprint for Brilliance which outlines everything we do, why and how. This could really help you make an informed decision about whether this is your next career move or not. We think it should be! Staff and students enjoy their days in excellent modern buildings with superb facilities.
We are located on the West of Portsmouth and access is easy from the M27 or A27. Many staff commute easily from Southampton, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and West Sussex either by car or by public transport. A post has arisen for a teacher of drama and music in our successful performing arts department. We are seeking a qualified teacher who can teach drama and music to KS3 and either drama or music to KS4.
What the school offers its staff
We are ideally looking for somebody who is exciting, ambitious and committed to extra-curricular activities in the form of performing arts clubs and putting on performances for parents and the school community. You may either already be a proven excellent practitioner or who you may be somebody who is committed, with support, to become excellent.
At Miltoncross, we are on an exciting journey to become the very best. We have high expectations of ourselves and our students. We provide a strong well-rounded education that has attainment at its heart. We take a warm and strict approach, with strong consistent systems that serve our young people well, and lead to good behaviour in classrooms.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in their subject and will be somebody who stays abreast of current thinking in performing arts as a national curriculum subject because they love their subject and genuinely want all Miltoncross children to love it too. They, like all of us, will be relentless in their desire to ensure that students at Miltoncross enjoy, learn and develop personally from the unique experiences that drama and music offer young people. We are firmly committed to ensuring that staff workload is manageable as we believe that teachers, and leaders, should spend their precious time on those activities that are proven to add value to children’s learning. To achieve this we use a sensible and effective marking strategy, centralised assessments, resources and knowledge organisers. We also operate with a very open mind for any staff to be able to share how we might do things more effectively and efficiently. Miltoncross is a cheerful place to work where everybody pulls in the same direction and works hard to ensure that we do our students the excellent service that they deserve.
