What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated teacher of Drama and PSHE.

In this role, 68% of the lessons will be within Drama. You will be an outstanding practitioner with an infectious passion for your subjects and specialist subject knowledge. Part of a wider Creative Team, you will receive excellent support and opportunities for development within the Academy and across the Trust.

To be successful, you must be confident in the delivery of both areas at KS3 and KS4 and have the ambition and dedication to continue to support the development of the curriculum and wider curriculum in line with current practice and research in effective teaching. You will be able to support the promotion of excellent standards of student learning, achievement, progress, attainment and behaviour through working effectively and collaboratively. Passionate about your specialist subject, you will recognise the importance and impact that these areas of the curriculum have on a student’s wider life and on their ability to be responsible, moral global citizens, ready to take their place in a tolerant and diverse world, confident and well informed to articulate and engage in debate and community life. Your input will be invaluable and must aim to inspire students within and beyond your specialism.

Students enjoy Drama and achieve successful outcomes at GCSE, with 53% achieving 5+. The arts are a key feature of our curriculum, and we celebrate our annual productions, which are always well received. We also have an extensive offer whereby students have the opportunity to see live performances, our most recent being Much Ado About Nothing at The Globe Theatre and Wicked in the West End.

PSHE is an important part of our curriculum and our wider personal development offer. The academy benefits from a small team of staff who are well led with a developed scheme of learning. These lessons place a strong emphasis on reading and writing as substantive components, directly supporting the academy's priority of literacy and extended writing. This approach enriches students' ability to articulate their ideas and reflect on important personal, social, and ethical topics.

This is a fixed-term position to cover maternity leave.
