What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for someone who can teach all aspects of the Drama Curriculum at Key Stage 3 and GCSE. There may also be the opportunity for the successful candidate to teach A-Level. This post is suitable for Early Career Teachers - as a lead partner in the East Midlands Teacher Training Partnership, and an early adopter of the Early Career Framework, we are well placed to support teachers at the start of their career.
A key element of the role of the successful candidate will be to work with the Drama Subject Performance Leader to put in place and be part of a wide range of extra-curricular Drama opportunities across the school. Our students benefit from opportunities to perform in front of a variety of audiences and the successful candidate will be given sufficient time to coordinate these opportunities. If you want to offer our students the chance to experience the joy of performance, and putting together productions, then this is the post for you.
If you have a passion for teaching Drama, then we want to hear from you. As part of East Midlands Education Trust there will also be the opportunity for continued professional development to prepare you for future stages of your career.
What the school offers its staff
Kimberley School is a rewarding and exciting place to work. Our aim is for every child to achieve or surpass their academic and social potential and we achieve this through providing an outstanding quality of education, underpinned by a strong programme of care, guidance, support and enrichment.
You will be joining a strong team of professionals who focus relentlessly on ensuring that students enjoy learning and make outstanding progress. You will be part of an Arts Faculty who have a superb track-record in securing excellent student progress, as well as offering a wonderful range of extra-curricular opportunities, and are well placed to go from strength to strength for many years to come. This will be an opportunity for you to join an outstanding, high performing team and learn from the very best.
Students in Key Stage 3 study Drama for one hour a week throughout the year. Students can choose to study GCSE Drama at Key Stage 4 and in recent years we have seen a significant increase in the number of students doing so. We also offer A-Level Theatre Studies at Key Stage 5. The department enjoys its own specialist teaching facilities with two fully equipped studios. The Drama department also benefits from strong links with the English department; successful candidates may have the opportunity to teach Key Stage 3 English classes.
