Teacher of EAL (Primary or Secondary Trained) job summary

We are looking for a Teacher of EAL (Primary or Secondary Trained) to join the school for an immediate start (FTC to cover maternity leave). The successful teacher will be responsible for leading, planning and co-ordinating appropriate intervention for students at risk of underachievement, with a particular focus on those identified as 'not yet secondary ready.' Intervention will be carried out in Maths and English (primarily) with individual students and in small groups. Main responsibilities of the successful transition teacher will be: • Implementing and delivering a specialised and differentiated curriculum for students with the aim of accelerating progress and supporting transition. • Supporting Key Stage 2 to Key stage 3 transition. Monitoring and supporting the overall progress and development of students. • Facilitating and encouraging a learning experiences that provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential and leading reading across the curriculum. • Supporting the identification of and intervention for those pupils not meeting the expected literary and phonics standards at the end of KS2. • Planning detailed and bespoke tuition for pupils identified as EAL on entry will be a key part of the role.
