What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you: • Committed to inspiring and motivating students?

  • A team player and strong communicator?
  • Enthusiastic and optimistic in wanting the very best for each student?
  • Dedicated to your own professional development and growth?

Swanshurst is a large, outstanding school for girls aged 11-19 years. We offer excellent support and CPD for staff at all stages of their career.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated professional to join our successful English department. We are looking for someone who can inspire a passion for literature and language; able to bring out the best in our pupils by delivering a strong curriculum through effective teaching. We are looking for a teacher who captures and shares their own enthusiasm for English with our hard working, well behaved and aspirational pupils.

The English department is a successful one, making a significant contribution to pupil progress scores that for the subject are consistently in line with or higher than the national average. We would expect the successful candidate to teach English at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and potentially Key Stage 5.

What the school offers its staff

Ofsted (2017) found pupils at Swanshurst to be “happy, well cared for and that they secure excellent academic and personal outcomes” and they described the girls as “polite, respectful and courteous”. Needless to say, we are incredibly proud of them and of all our staff who contribute to the “purposeful learning culture within the school that characterises the work of staff and pupils”

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
