What skills and experience we're looking for
The successful candidate will be an excellent classroom practitioner with a strong subject knowledge of English and a passion for inspiring young people to develop a love of language and literature. They will be able to plan and deliver engaging, challenging lessons that enable students of all abilities to make strong progress and achieve their full potential.
The school is looking for an individual who demonstrates high expectations of behaviour, achievement and personal conduct, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and challenged. The ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and external agencies is essential.
Applicants should have experience of assessing, monitoring and tracking student progress, using assessment information effectively to inform teaching and improve outcomes. They should be confident in adapting teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including those with special educational needs, disabilities, disadvantaged backgrounds and high prior attainment.
The successful candidate will be committed to continuous professional development and reflective practice, demonstrating a willingness to embrace new ideas and contribute to departmental improvement. They should be able to work collaboratively within a team, sharing expertise and supporting curriculum development while maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
As a form tutor and member of the wider school community, the school is seeking someone who is dedicated to promoting students' personal development, wellbeing and safeguarding. The ability to support students pastorally, encourage positive attitudes to learning and contribute to extracurricular opportunities would be highly valued.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, resilience, flexibility and a commitment to the school's values. They will be enthusiastic about making a positive difference to the lives of young people and willing to play a full role in school life beyond their classroom responsibilities.
