What skills and experience we're looking for

Hold a recognised degree (or equivalent) with a good classification in a relevant subject teaching qualification (QTS)

Commitment to own self development

Qualified Teacher Status.

Willingness to undertake further CPD.

Ability to teach your subject area up to Key Stage 4

Desire to further raise overall achievement in your subject that seeks to promote the highest standards of teaching and learning

A flexible approach to the teaching of your subject that seeks to promote the learning opportunities of all students and to secure the highest possible

Good discipline / classroom management

Commitment to working within the School’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedures

Commitment to high standards and expectations

High levels of professional integrity

Demonstrate a commitment to following the school’s principles of teaching, learning and assessment

Evidence of wider professional development and wider educational contemporary issues

Skills and experience

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills

The English department at Gloucester Academy offers a successful curriculum which ensures stories are at the heart of everything we do. The department comprises 8 teachers with a range of experience, an experienced Head of Department, second in department and literacy lead. In 2024 the department secured the best results in the school's history, with a combined Progress 8 in English of 0.39. Our aim is to continue giving the students of Gloucester Academy an education in the English department which allows them to thrive not only in their exams but in the world beyond our school.
