What skills and experience we're looking for
The Duston School is looking to appoint a Teacher for English and More Able Lead. This is an exciting time to join our successful English faculty teaching all key stages including post 16. We aim to ensure that our pupils become responsible, competent, confident and build skills relevant to today’s society. We welcome applications from qualified teachers, who can demonstrate the highest standards of delivery in order to raise attainment and are committed to motivating young people. We welcome applications from ECT’s as well as experienced applicants. More Able Lead Job Responsibilities include: • To identify and track the progress of the most able pupils across key stages three and four • To work with departments to ensure that the most able pupils make excellent progress across the curriculum. • To report on the progress of the most able cohort at termly key stage achievement board meetings. • To deliver CPD to ensure that teachers are fully equipped to meet the needs of the most able cohort. • To work with the Oxbridge coordinator to co-ordinate students, year 7-13, to inspire them to have high aspirations and apply to Oxbridge/Russell group universities. • To develop and lead a programme of support to stretch and challenge the most able pupils in year 7-13 inclusive • To take students, year 7-13 to Oxbridge and other leading universities • To work alongside faculty leads and the careers lead to organise talks, master classes and seminars which will inspire the most able year 7-13 Requirements: Essential Experience of teaching key stages 3, 4 and 5 Understanding of pedagogical and curricular strategies to enable the most able pupils to succeed. Experience of successfully teaching more able pupils Experience of planning and monitoring interventions or programmes of support Desirable: NPQLT or equivalent
