Teacher of English job summary

Due to an increase in our projected numbers for September 2025, we are seeking new teachers to join our fantastic school community. Are you looking for a job in a school and multi-academy trust that values collaboration and commits to kindness as a driving principle? Do you want to work for someone who embraces flexible working practices ? Are you seeking a school that is supportive and retains its staff because of its culture? If so, then Bradon Forest could be the perfect fit for you! If you are a trainee teacher, then we have very experienced mentors in all subject areas who will guide you through the ECT framework and process. Likewise, if you are experienced and looking for career opportunities, our revamped personal development process (no whole-school appraisal targets but individualised career actions and projects) , our excellent school and trust CPD model and the chance to collaborate with colleagues from across the trust in similar roles mean that Bradon Forest is definitely an employer of choice.

As a Headteacher I believe that working in a school should afford staff the professional responsibility to do their jobs well free from a dictated model of teaching and learning. Head of Subjects have autonomy to run a curriculum and assessment model that suits their subject and context and, aside from the principles of great teaching and learning, we do not dictate how you teach. Instead, we seek to develop teachers who flourish and enjoy their role, finding job satisfaction in their craft and the impact that they can have.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions or would like to know more about the school or role.

The English department is a team of supportive and collaborative teachers who bring a range of talents and interests to inspire our students. As individuals we hail from various backgrounds - from specialists in Literature and Language to Drama and Linguistics. As a team we strive to unite these talents in driving forward a diverse, engaging and creative curriculum across all key stages. Everyone is valued for their own strengths and collaboration is at the heart of what we do. With this approach we achieve consistently good results in both Literature and Language.

At Bradon Forest English teachers have their own classrooms, as well as sharing a departmental office and kitchen where we gather to collaborate. Schemes of work and resources are shared centrally. The department benefits from a well-stocked, well-resourced library and a talented Librarian who we work with closely.

Early applications are encouraged, and we reserve the right to close the vacancy if a suitable candidate is found.
