Teacher of English job summary

We recognise how vital strong literacy skills are for students, both within school -enabling them to access the curriculum across all subjects - and beyond, helping to open doors to future opportunities, pathways and aspirations.

As such, we are seeking an excellent Teacher of English who is passionate about their subject and committed to inspiring a love of literature and language in every student.

You will deliver engaging and ambitious lessons that enable students to explore texts and writing in creative and thought-provoking ways, while prioritising oracy and encouraging young people to articulate their ideas and opinions with clarity and confidence. Through high expectations and expert teaching, you will ensure all students are supported to achieve and succeed.

As part of our dedicated English team, you will work collaboratively with colleagues to provide the very best learning experiences for students. You will reflect on your practice, embrace new approaches to teaching and learning, and contribute to enrichment opportunities that broaden students’ experiences and deepen their appreciation of English.

  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a passion for English.
  • Has experience working with pupils with a diverse range of abilities and needs.
  • Has high expectations and a genuine belief that every child can succeed.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently with pupils, staff and families.
  • Understands that context informs decisions but does not define expectations or lower ambition.
  • Is committed to continual professional development and collaborative working.
