What skills and experience we're looking for

We are excited to invite applications for a high-quality Teacher of English to join our thriving team at Plympton Academy on a fixed-term basis until 31 August 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and dedicated practitioner to join a committed and supportive English department and play a key role in delivering an outstanding English education. You will inspire, challenge, and engage students of all abilities, fostering a love of language and literature while supporting learners to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will be a creative and dynamic teacher with high expectations for both achievement and behaviour. You will be confident in delivering a stimulating curriculum up to Key Stage 5, using innovative approaches in both physical and digital learning environments.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified Teacher of English with the ability to teach up to Key Stage 5
  • Is passionate about teaching and learning, with a positive outlook and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates good or outstanding classroom practice
  • Plans and delivers engaging, inclusive, and challenging lessons
  • Has high expectations for themselves and all students, ensuring every learner achieves their very best
  • Is committed to the wellbeing and success of every child
  • Is an aspiring leader of learning, keen to embrace exciting CPD opportunities
  • Actively contributes to the values, ethos, and ongoing development of the school
