Teacher of English (Maternity cover) job summary
About this role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified English teacher to join this high-achieving department from January 2025. We deliver a challenging and rigorous curriculum to all students across KS3 and KS4, and recruit large numbers into the Sixth Form to study English Literature and/or English Language. A passion for the subject and for developing research-informed practice is essential, as well as an understanding of how to diversify the curriculum to keep in step with a changing world. This is an excellent opportunity to work in an outstanding academic environment with innovative and experienced colleagues and keen, well-motivated students.
To be successful you should be able to fulfil the following criteria:
- QTS and a good honours degree in a related subject (ECTs are welcome)
- Be passionate about learning and teaching
- Demonstrate a passion for the subject, and the ability to teach Music across KS3, GCSE and A-Level
- Have a sensitive attitude to students of all abilities and ages and the ability to meet the needs of the most able and those with Special Educational Needs
- Be willing to go above and beyond to ensure students make great progress
- Be committed to playing a part in the wider life of the school
- Be committed to safeguarding children's wellbeing
- Have a supportive and cooperative approach to colleagues
- Have a willingness to continue learning and developing as a teacher
- Have a reflective approach to your own practice and to the overall performance of the department
