Teacher of English (maternity cover) job summary
The Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well qualified and ambitious of Teacher of English at St Cuthbert Mayne School. This is a temporary maternity cover for approximately two terms initially on a full time contract as from September 2020 until Easter 2021 or July 2021. The Governors are looking for someone with experience of teaching English Language and Literature up to GCSE and A Level across a range of abilities.
The English Department
The English Department consists of nine specialist teachers who teach in purpose built classrooms with a range of digital, whiteboard and audio/visual facilities. Staff are encouraged to use a variety of interactive teaching and learning approaches to challenge students across the age and ability range through Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 to reach their full potential. Our current GCSE students follow the Edexcel course for English Language and Literature. We also offer A-Level English Language Syllabus A AQA and English Literature Syllabus A AQA. We have a thriving Media Studies Department and the ability to offer skills to contribute to any of these areas would be advantageous.
