What skills and experience we're looking for

Across our English curriculum we aim to develop the knowledge and skills they will need to equip themselves as thinkers, as writers and as questioners. We value their individual contributions, backgrounds, experiences and viewpoints as a means by which we can develop this knowledge and skill set.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of English who is innovative and inspiring with the ability to teach a curriculum that is authentic, connected to our community and engages our students. This is an exciting role for a highly motivated person who has a confident understanding of the English curriculum, is passionate about their subject and will inspire all students to share their enthusiasm for English.

The post will involve working with the Head of English to ensure that students make progress through quality first teaching. The post holder will have the ability to demonstrate their commitment to their subject and how they can support the trust in fostering collaboration ensuring the continual improvement of the quality of students' learning is at the top of the Trusts agenda. The ability to teach English at KS3, KS4 & KS5 level is desirable.

For those interested in a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR), there is potential for further development within the English department. We are seeking individuals with leadership potential who are eager to contribute to curriculum development, staff mentoring, and the implementation of innovative teaching strategies. Successful candidates may have the opportunity to take on specific TLR responsibilities, working closely with the Head of English to enhance the quality of teaching and learning across the department and contribute to the strategic vision of the English curriculum, please see additional Job Description if you are interested in this role. While demonstrating the potential to lead whole school literacy is highly desirable, it is not a prerequisite to applying. We encourage applications from all enthusiastic and motivated English teachers who share our vision and values.

We are looking for a teacher who has:

  • A shared commitment to our values and to forming positive working relationships with our community
  • Experience of excellent and inspirational teaching from Key Stage 3 up to Key Stage 5
  • Commitment to their professional development and a culture of open professional dialogue
  • Passion for combating social disadvantage and generating social capital
  • Enthusiasm for innovation in curriculum and assessment.

The post holder will demonstrate their commitment to their subject and how they can support the trust in fostering collaboration and staff subject development.
