Main Pay Scale (Upper Pay Scale will be considered).
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join the successful Communications Faculty at Risedale, delivering English to the young people of Catterick.
If you are an exceptional and inspirational English practitioner who would be able to add expertise to our team of teachers then we would love to hear from you. We are looking for a person with drive and personal ambition who will inspire and enthuse our students and instil in them a love for the subject and a desire to learn. The role will require an individual who is creative, committed to the power of a love of language and determined that all students receive the very best of provision in this core subject.
At Risedale Sports and Community College, the English Department, as part of the Communications Faculty, is committed to excellence in teaching. We pride ourselves on putting the students at the centre of all we do, from creating an engaging, positive, welcoming environment to exploring cutting-edge pedagogy. This has led to improving outcomes and progress for our students and we are now one of the strongest subjects in terms of progress for pupils.
The department is housed in a suite of rooms, facilitating support and joint working as part of our everyday practice. Our ‘Street of Positivity’ is all about empowering young people to develop into highly successful individuals. We also have The Writing Shed, a bespoke creative space designed by students which is available to book.
At KS4 students study English Language and English Literature. Students follow the Edexcel specification. At KS3 students follow an interleaved curriculum focusing on high quality texts from across the English Literary Canon. We are passionate about our curriculum and are seen as being at the forefront of curriculum design across the school.
We are looking to appoint a forward thinking, innovative and creative specialist. The successful candidate will be open to new ideas and aligned to the philosophy of the school and the faculty and be committed to ‘A Love of Language Learning’, our Faculty mantra.
