Teacher of English job summary

The school is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teacher of English, with a confident teaching ability, ideally to commence in September 2021.  The standard of English teaching at the College is very high and we are looking to appoint someone who can maintain and enhance this.  The person appointed would thus be working within a successful supportive culture with plenty of opportunity to support the wider school community.  Applicants must be highly professional and committed team members.

 South Molton Community College is a Devon state Secondary school for students aged 11-16 and has an excellent team of dedicated and talented staff.  It was graded good under the new Ofsted framework at last inspection.   ‘The school has a strong ethos of respect and tolerance. Pupils are clear about the need to treat everyone equally. High levels of appreciation of others are evident across the school. Pupils want to learn, and they work hard in lessons. Staff have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour, and low-level disruption is rare. Teachers establish clear routines in lessons.’ Dec Ofsted 2019  In April 2017 we moved into a new school.  The school is growing in popularity and this growth is likely to continue.  We also believe passionately in providing a well-rounded education to our students both in and out of the classroom and are committed to supporting our staff.
