What skills and experience we're looking for

Wollaston School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic full time Food teacher, with the ability to teach throughout the school from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5. ECT’s applications are welcomed as we offer a fully supported induction programme with tailored CPD including regular subject specific mentoring.

The successful candidate will be an innovative, reflective practitioner who can demonstrate the willingness to adapt and learn. We are looking for an individual with high expectations and standards who can offer excellent behavioural

management skills. An additional strength would be an approach to offering a creative, engaging approach to the delivery of the curriculum and planning both within the classroom and also in the wider outdoor learning environment .

What the school offers its staff

They will be joining a highly successful team of food specialist teachers who are forward thinking and have proven excellent exam success year on year.

Food is taught alongside Product Design throughout KS3 and operates on a carousel system students have a 1 hour 40 minute lesson each week. Food is offered at Key Stage 4 and is an extremely popular subject with approximately 160 students studying the subject in Year 10 and 11. Food is also offered at KS5 with students who then continue their food studies ,either in the food industry or continue to study at higher education.

Wollaston School is a large, rural community school located in a village setting about 15 minutes drive from Northampton. The student intake draws on nearby villages and the towns of Earls Barton, Wellingborough, and Irchester. We have over 1400 students on roll with approximately 240 students in the Sixth Form. The school is over-subscribed. Wollaston School was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in May 2023.
