Do you spark curiosity about our planet?

Do you teach with courage, compassion and courtesy at the heart of every lesson?

Are you committed to helping young people build the confidence to thrive as global citizens?

If this sounds like you, Thomas Deacon Academy would love to hear from you!

Your role:

As a Teacher of Geography at TDA, you will help students navigate the physical and human landscapes that define our planet. Through well‑crafted and purposeful lessons, you will lead learners across mountains, rivers, megacities and ecosystems, encouraging them to question, investigate and understand the forces that shape their world. You will inspire students to think like geographers, analysing evidence, exploring patterns, challenging assumptions and developing the confidence to form their own perspectives.

Drawing on your strong subject knowledge and inclusive teaching approach, you will deliver high‑quality learning from Key Stage 3 upwards, ensuring every student feels supported and stretched. You’ll bring commitment and curiosity into every classroom discussion, compassion and courtesy into every interaction, and courage into every moment where students push beyond their comfort zone. You will plan effectively, assess thoughtfully and use ICT to bring real‑world data, mapping and case studies to life. Collaboration within the Humanities team, contribution to curriculum development and engagement with pastoral care will all be part of your daily work.

About us:

TDA is a school where staff and students alike are encouraged to explore, question and aspire. You will join a team committed to academic excellence and character development, ensuring every student leaves us with the knowledge, skills and global awareness they need to thrive. Most importantly, you’ll work in a community where your passion for Geography will be valued, supported and amplified. Our students are at the heart of everything we do; join us in shaping young minds, helping them build a strong foundation in geography, and preparing them for success.

The Academy’s Ofsted inspection in November 2024 rated all areas as ‘Good’ and noted that “pupils benefit from a welcoming environment where diversity is celebrated. They enjoy celebrating each other’s differences and participating in cultural activities. The school provides an ambitious curriculum that ensures pupils develop a strong foundation of knowledge and skills from Year 3 through to Year 13, preparing them well for their next stage of education or employment.”

At Thomas Deacon Academy, our character values are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for someone who embodies them in their work.
