About the Role
Option 1: Teacher of Geography (Maternity Cover)
As a qualified teacher, you will:
- Deliver high-quality Geography lessons across KS3-KS5.
- Inspire a love of the subject, promoting curiosity about the world.
- Contribute to planning, assessment and enrichment, including fieldwork.
- Join a highly successful, well-established team with outstanding support for both experienced teachers and ECTs.
This role is ideal for a teacher who is enthusiastic, ambitious and committed to excellent outcomes for students.
Option 2: Apprentice Teacher of Geography (QTS Training Programme)
As an Apprentice Teacher, you will:
- Teach across a range of ages while developing your practice throughout the year.
- Receive dedicated study time, a structured training programme, and high-quality mentoring.
- Work towards Qualified Teacher Status while earning a salary and gaining substantial classroom experience.
- Be supported by experienced colleagues in a nurturing and developmental environment.
This pathway is perfect for graduates or career changers who wish to enter the profession through a supportive salaried route.

About the Geography Department
The Geography Department is well-established, innovative and committed to ensuring students of all abilities enjoy the subject while being stretched and challenged. We deliver a broad and engaging Key Stage 3 curriculum that aligns with the National Curriculum and prepares students for both GCSE and A Level Geography. Geography is a popular subject, with over 150 candidates at Key Stage 4 and over 30 at Key Stage 5. Fieldwork is embedded in curricula, and the department runs a bi-annual trip to Iceland.
- At Key Stage 3, students are introduced to a range of topics including: Fantastic Places, Geography Rocks, The Geography of Britain, The Rise of China, Dark Tourism, Hazards, Global Development, Urbanisation in India, Climate Change and Superpowers.
- At Key Stage 4, students follow the AQA GCSE Geography specification. Fieldwork elements are currently met with trips to Hunstanton and Leicester.
- At Key Stage 5, students follow the AQA GCSE Geography specification. Students access a number of local and distant fieldwork opportunities, including in recent years to Leicester, Cambridge, London and a residential to the Peak District.
- Alongside this, the Geography Department runs BTEC Level 1/2 in Travel & Tourism for Years 10 and 11, and BTEC Level 3 Travel & Tourism for Sixth Form students. This is a popular and well-run department with over 60 students at Key Stage 4 and over 30 at Key Stage 5.

Hampton Gardens is an 11-19 free school which opened in September 2017 to an initial intake of 180 Year 7 students. When full, the school will accommodate 1200 students in years 7-11 and 300 students in Sixth Form.
Hampton Gardens is part of the Hampton Academies Trust who also run the highly successful and popular Hampton College all-through school, Hampton Lakes Primary School and Dogsthorpe Infant School. HAT schools have very close links and some shared staff.
