Teacher of Geography job summary
We are seeking to appoint, from July or September 2022, a full-time dynamic teacher of Geography. You will be teaching Geography to GCSE and A Level. An interest in teaching another humanities subject at GCSE/A Level would be an advantage. You will be fully involved in departmental development, target setting and evaluation of student progress and will possess the following attributes:
- An outstanding classroom practitioner
- Highly developed inter-personal skills
- High expectations for student achievement
The Humanities department is fun and lively so a good sense of humour is essential. We teach the AQA syllabus at both GCSE and A Level and are a very popular and expanding subject in the Academy. As a department we pride ourselves on excellent relations with students and other departments. We value learning outside the classroom and there are opportunities to run fieldwork trips across the Key Stages. We also run a very popular trip to Iceland.
Applications from ECTs, experienced teachers or those returning to the profession will be welcome. We are committed to the development our staff; to support them to further their career, progress professionally and develop their teaching and leadership skills.
We have been graded ‘good’ following our latest SIAMS inspection (March 2020). “The academy is highly inclusive, and tireless in supporting all of its pupils and staff. Because of this, each person is known, nurtured and inspired. This enables them to make strong progress from their starting points”. Our OFSTED inspection in February 2017 also judged the school as ‘good’ in all categories.
We are onto the final stage of our school building development programme to accommodate growing numbers and add to our well-resourced teaching environment.
Closing date: 9.00am on Monday 23 May 2022
Interview date: Thursday 26 May 2022
