Teacher of Geography job summary

Teacher of Geography

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and ambitious Teacher of Geography to join our popular and oversubscribed Academy. The ideal candidate for this vacancy will have passion for the subject and be committed to delivering engaging and inspiring Geography lessons. There will be the opportunity to teach up to and including Key Stage 5. If you feel that you have these attributes and skills, and are suitably qualified, then we would like to hear from you.

Department information

Within the school, Geography is incredibly popular with year-on-year growth in both our GCSE and A-Level cohorts, and students are encouraged to be committed, curious and courageous in their studies. Students benefit from a bespoke curriculum that builds on their cultural capital, and that both inspires and challenges them. Our rich KS3 curriculum focusses on mastery and extends beyond the national curriculum, allowing learners to develop a strong foundation knowledge of Geography, which they can build on further at KS4 and 5 where they study the AQA specification at both GCSE and A-Level.

We also encourage students to take their learning outside of the classroom and take part in various extracurricular and enrichment opportunities. Students can work as part of the Eco-Schools project, and also have the opportunity to participate in fieldtrips linked to their study. Recent fieldtrips have included a residential trip to the Gower Peninsula in Wales, day trips to Birmingham and Carding Mill Valley, and a virtual trip to the Roseg Valley in Switzerland.

We work collaboratively with other schools in the Tudor Grange Academy Trust, and our curriculum has been robustly designed to fit the context of the school and widen the horizons of our students. The department prides itself on its collaborative approach, where resources are shared and every member of staff has the opportunity to bring new ideas to the table with regard to our feedback policy, content delivery and extracurricular opportunities. The Geography department is hard-working and committed to continuing the progress of not just the department, but the school as a whole. The successful candidate will benefit from being welcomed into a department where innovation, a reflective approach and excellent classroom skills are valued, and a school where continued professional development, opportunities for collaboration and staff wellbeing are at the forefront.
