What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic temporary part time (.6) Teacher of Girls' PE to join our PE Faculty from 3 June 2024 to cover a period of maternity leave, the length of which has not yet been determined, but potentially for up to a year. This is an ideal opportunity for an Early Career Teacher to take her first steps on the career ladder in teaching and further develop her skills, or for a colleague looking to return to teaching on a part time temporary basis. Experience of teaching Hockey would be advantageous but not essential.

What the school offers its staff

Sport can be lifesaving, life sustaining and life affirming, and we see Physical Education at Deer Park very much as a subject that allows all young people to be safe, happy, and successful. We are very lucky to enjoy excellent sports facilities. The school has a superb astro-turf surface with warm-up area, sports hall, and gym, as well as hard courts, cricket nets and multiple fields.

The school's values of Trust, Kindness and Determination underpin all we do. Our pupils enjoy their learning in a disruption free environment, and staff are proud to work here. Following our Ofsted inspection in January 2023, Cirencester Deer Park School continues to be a good school. Inspectors noted that:

  • “Pupils welcome leaders’ high expectations of their behaviour and conduct… Pupils enjoy their learning and feel well prepared for the future.”
  • “Pupils behave well in lessons and benefit from learning without low-level disruption from others.”
  • “Staff are proud to work at the school. They feel well supported by leaders in respect of workload, well-being and managing pupils’ behaviour.”

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to the safeguarding of our pupils and employment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and the receipt of satisfactory references.

Our Ofsted Report in January 2023 confirmed: "Leaders have established a strong culture of safeguarding. Appropriate checks are made on adults working in the school. Staff understand the priority that should be given to safeguarding. They receive effective training and report concerns about pupils or adults appropriately."
