Rickmansworth School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Girls’ PE Teacher to join our committed and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity to inspire and motivate students through physical education, encouraging them to lead active and healthy lifestyles while achieving their full potential.

As a Girls’ PE Teacher at Rickmansworth School, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach at Key Stage 5. You will play a key role in the success of the department and contribute to the ongoing development of our PE curriculum. A commitment to extracurricular sport and enrichment activities is essential.

If you are dedicated to promoting physical fitness, personal development, teamwork and to creating an inclusive and inspiring learning environment we would be delighted to hear from you. The School’s admissions criteria gives preference to staff members’ children (as there is a demonstrable skill shortage for this post, the successful candidate could apply for a priority admission place for their own child).

The role also has the potential to include Head of Year responsibilities, with an additional TLR available for the right candidate. If you are interested in this aspect of the position, please request further details when applying.

About the PE Department

The PE Department is at the heart of school life at Rickmansworth School and is highly respected by students, parents and staff.

The department is very successful within the School and community, winning the Hertfordshire Service to Sport ‘Secondary School PE department of the Year’ for three consecutive years. We are also proud to hold the School Games Platinum Award. The PE department has state of the art sports facilities. The sports hall has five cricket nets, six badminton courts, two volleyball courts and ten basketball rings. Completing the sports hall is a gym and fitness suite and a dance studio. The department also has a recently refurbished swimming pool, astroturf multi-use games area and extensive playing fields.

Extra-curricular sport plays an important role in the ethos of the department. We run an extensive programme, including providing opportunities before school, at lunch times, after school and on Saturday mornings. Our aim is to offer a wide variety of activities so that as many students as possible can take part and enjoy physical activity and have the opportunity to represent the school.

The department runs a number of sports tours and trips to further enhance opportunities for our students. We currently organise and run an annual ski trip as well as Football and Netball trips, with a long haul trip to South Africa planned for 2026.

The department currently consists of seven teaching members of staff and a PE apprentice. We work closely with the Three Rivers and Watford School Sports Partnership that we are proud to host at Rickmansworth School.
