Teacher of History job summary

The Sele School is seeking to appoint an outstanding educator of History to join a high achieving, successful and forward-looking team of staff. The post is 0.8wte but could be full time for the appropriate candidate.We wish to appoint an imaginative and enthusiastic teacher, who will be keen to work alongside a team determined to create an excellent learning experience for all of our students. You would inspire and motivate young people to learn about past events and ways of living and understand how these have shaped the present-day world.

As a History teacher you would help the students to understand the diverse nature of historical experiences, achievements and historical changes. You would help them to appreciate the history, heritage and culture of the United Kingdom and the wider world, and develop skills in evaluating sources of evidence.

We are keen that students have an opportunity to extend their interest and enthusiasm for History by taking part in a range of extracurricular activities such as clubs, visits and competitions. We would welcome any contribution you could make to these activities at The Sele School. The Teacher of History position would suit either a newly qualified teacher seeking a first appointment within a forward thinking school or a more experienced teacher wishing to develop their experience and curriculum management skills. Experience in the delivery of the GCSE curriculum to high ability students is essential.
