The Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the History department of Barnhill Community High School.

We are seeking a passionate and forward-thinking History teacher to join our dynamic team. Our curriculum is diverse, engaging, and inclusive—covering a wide range of global histories, from the British Empire and the World Wars to African kingdoms, Mughal India, the transatlantic slave trade, and civil rights movements across the world. We aim to foster a deep understanding of different cultures, perspectives, and voices that have shaped our past and continue to influence our world today.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To be a member of Barnhill Community High and be responsible for the safety, welfare and educational progress of groups of students as assigned by the Head Teacher and to take an appropriate share of collective responsibility for all students
  • To teach a timetable commensurate with the post
  • To positively contribute to the efficient and effective planning and running of the History Curriculum Area
  • To contribute to the development of the school ethos.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status in the relevant or related curriculum area
  • Experience of teaching within age range to be served by the school (11-18). (This may be obtained from teaching practise).
  • A positive, enthusiastic outlook, embracing risk and innovation
