We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher of History to join our successful History Department. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for the subject and will strive to continually improve standards within the Department. This post would suit both experienced and newly qualified teachers.
History is a popular and successful subject at Brookfield Community School. You will be joining and contributing to an experienced, hardworking and supportive department which seeks to continually improve its practice and performance. At Key Stage 3, students are taught in mixed ability groups for two hours a week in Years 7, 8 and 9. The students follow a course broadly based on the National Curriculum programme of study. At Key Stage 4, History is an incredibly popular option with five GCSE groups each in Years 10 and 11. Students follow the AQA History GCSE course and complete modules on Britain: Health and the People, America 1840-1895, Elizabethan England c1568-1603 and Conflict and Tension 1894-1918. At Post 16 the popularity continues and with two groups each in Years 12 and 13. We teach the AQA History A-Level with modules focused on 17th century England, 20th century America and a piece of coursework on British imperialism in Africa in the 19th and 20th centuries.
