Teacher of History - Maternity Cover job summary

We are looking for a passionate, creative and motivational History specialist to join our vibrant and popular Humanities Faculty to help cover a maternity absence. Perhaps more now than for a generation, an understanding of the events of the past is vital to understand the world in which our students are growing up. We are looking for a teacher who can inspire and excite students and who can encourage inquisitive minds to learn from the past to enable them to understand and shape their present and future- and ours! You will be joining a very strong and experienced History department but one that is always looking for new ideas and new energy.

As the successful candidate you will be:

a qualified History teacher who is always looking to develop

confident teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4

passionate about all aspects of History

committed to making a difference to young people’s lives

a team player with excellent communication and inter-personal skills

The Humanities Faculty brings together History, Geography, Sociology, Philosophy and Religion, Politics, Economics and Business - all subjects that share a common link to an understanding of the world today. Our key intent as a Faculty is to make our subjects real and relevant to our students and for them to recognise these links. You will join a Faculty that is friendly and supportive, where your input will be encouraged and valued and where you can hone and develop the skills for whatever steps you would like to take in the future.

You will also be joining a school that has a well-deserved reputation for its inclusive and caring ethos. Our students are loyal and friendly and respond well to teachers who are caring and who have high expectations. As our last Ofsted report made clear, ‘The stimulating and caring ethos in the school enables pupils to make strong progress and achieve well.’

If this sounds like the sort of challenge and environment you are looking for in your career journey and you feel that you possess the potential to develop these attributes, then we very much look forward to meeting you. The position is suitable for ECT’s and experienced teachers.

We offer:

an excellent programme of induction and training which seeks to provide an excellent foundation for career progression

a forward thinking environment which recognises the benefits of considering flexible working patterns

a friendly, caring, supportive and collaborative team environment

a professional environment dedicated to Teaching and Learning with a supportive, dedicated and hardworking staff

If this sounds like the sort of opportunity and environment you are looking for in your career journey and you feel that you possess these attributes, then we very much look forward to meeting you.
