Post Title:Teacher of History

Job Purpose:All teaching staff are expected to fulfil and upholdthe TEACHERS’ STANDARDS in their role.

Curriculum:

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the curriculum area including all statutory requirements to provide a curriculum that is appropriate to the needs of all students.
  • Completion, monitoring and evaluating SoW to ensure that the curriculum is appropriately differentiated to meet the needs of all students.
  • Promotion of all national/local strategies and priorities within the curriculum area.
  • Provision of an enhancement to the curriculum (extracurricular activities: trips/visits/enrichment activities as well as super curricular activities: booster sessions/workshops).
  • To formulate, communicate and monitor the progress of the curriculum improvement plan to ensure it makes a

significant contribution to the SIP.

  • Completion, monitoring and evaluation of the core practical requirements of the course, including the relevant training and upskilling of staff to ensure that this is completed.

The GCSE curriculum is centred around providingstudents with a depth and breadth of knowledgeon the units covered, while also strengthening andhoning their skills in regards to the second orderconcepts. Exam practice, recall activities andformative assessment are embedded into lessonsto ensure all students are making progress.

Revision and intervention session are offered to allstudents and facilitated by the members of thedepartment.In Year 10, students attend a trip to Whitechapel toexperience why it was so hard to police in the late19th century. Year 11 students have the enrichingexperience of meeting and hearing the story of aHolocaust survivor. An extensive EnrichmentGoogle Classroom is also provided for the studentsto continue developing their knowledge on theGCSE topics. All of these opportunities ensure thatstudents are fully engaged and prove them withthe skills needed for further study at A level.
