Teacher of History - with Law job summary
Are you a brilliant teacher, who is enthusiastic about world history? Do you want to share your historical visits and adventures with students? Are you a flexible and ambitious teacher that wants to contribute to a high-achieving and popular set of subjects, across an exciting Arts and Humanities Faculty? Do you have a drive for improving student outcomes and working alongside brilliant teachers in Humanities?
We are seeking to appoint an excellent classroom practitioner who is an enthusiastic, innovative and engaging teacher of History (with Law), to join a dynamic and expanding faculty.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
- Monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher.
- Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.
- Contribute to raising standards of student attainment.
- To share and support the Academy’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth.
- Support and maintain collaborative relationships with staff and external professionals.
- The successful candidate must hold QTS or equivalent and an honours degree in History or related subject.

There may be opportunities for the successful candidate with the right qualities and experience to apply for other roles within the faculty as these arise.
Please note there are also regularly other exciting TLR opportunities within the Academy to take on whole school projects and other roles for further development.
Our last Ofsted inspection judged the Academy to be Expected Standard in five focus areas and Strong Standard in two- Inclusion and Personal Development and Wellbeing. They felt that ‘Every pupil who walks through the door of Joseph Leckie Academy is treated as an individual with potential’, praised our ‘well-structured curriculum’ and noted that ‘school leaders are passionate about improving pupils’ life chances’.

You will have/show:
- Practical skills and expertise as outlined in the Job description.
- A passion and vision for working with students in their personal, social and emotional needs as well as their academic development.
- The ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Experience of delivering History at KS3, 4 and 5.
- The ability to teach Law at L3 BTEC.
- Confidence in dealing with students across different age ranges.
- The ability to teach A-Level courses offered in the department is highly desirable.
- The ability to teach a range of Humanities subjects is desirable.
- Enthusiasm to work towards enriching the lives of our students beyond subject specialism.
- The passion to enrich the lives of our students and contribute to the development of cultural capital to enhance the life opportunities for our students.
