The Maths faculty consists of 15 expert Maths teachers, the vast
majority of whom trained at de Ferrers. There is a clear, centrally resourced
curriculum in place for all year groups. Across Y7–11 we use Sparx Maths for
homework, which enables our students to make high levels of progress whilst
keeping staff workload low.
GCSE outcomes have been consistently strong, with our students
achieving a progress score of +0.72 in 2022, the highest in the region. We also
offer Level 2 Further Maths to help our highest-achieving students prepare for
A Level Maths.
At KS5, we have a sizeable A Level Maths cohort of 70 students,
and our students continue to achieve excellent outcomes (77% A*–B in 2022). We
also offer Further Maths at A Level, providing lots of opportunities to teach a
variety of mathematical content.
