The successful candidate will have the ability to deliver quality teaching that drives achievement and inspires a love of learning. You will have:
- A degree-level qualification and Qualified Teacher Status.
- The ability to teach to GCSE is essentialand A-Level Desirable.
- Experience of sustained delivery of outstanding attainment and achievement.
- Experience of innovation and creativity to engage, enthuse and progress learners.

Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School is a mixed secondary grammar school and sixth form for 11 to 18 year olds in Waterfoot, Lancashire. We joined Star Academies in 2023 and, like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism.
We provide a knowledge-based academic curriculum alongside a rich and diverse leadership programme that grows character and inspires charitable and social action. Our pursuit of educational excellence is based upon our fundamental belief that every pupil has the capacity to become a successful and inspirational leader.
The Maths team are ambitious, friendly and dedicated. We celebrated outstanding results in the summer of 2023. At GCSE our pupils achieved 84% Grade 9-7 and 100% Grade 9-4. At A Level, our pupils achieved 75% A* - B grades.
We are a high-performing department who love our subject and are looking for someone just as passionate to join the team. We work collaboratively and successfully to ensure every pupil is given the best chance to reach their full potential.

In June 2026, the school was inspected under Ofsted’s new framework and ‘report card’ grading system (introduced in November 2025) and became the first school in the North West to be awarded ‘Exceptional’ – the highest grade – in all seven areas, including Post-16 provision.
