Teacher of Mathematics job summary
The Role
This is a fabulous opportunity to join our amazing Mathematics team whose work in the last few years has seen the subject’s Progress 8 score rise to +0.8 in 2019 putting the results for the subject in the top 4% of schools nationally. You will join a highly successful department that has achieved excellent, and continually improving, results at KS4 and KS5
We are seeking an enthusiastic, well qualified and ambitious person to teach Mathematics across the full ability range at Corfe Hills School. The ability to teach to GCSE is required and to teach at A level is desirable. As a classroom practitioner you would need to demonstrate exceptional classroom practice and be able to motivate and inspire students. This will involve 100% commitment to our vision which is captured in our strapline “High Expectations | Exceptional Individuals”.
Whilst the school was graded as “requires improvement” in November 2017, two years later, following 3 years of significant and sustained improvement, it has changed almost beyond recognition. The 2019 GCSE results are exceptional with a Progress 8 score of +0.39 putting Corfe Hills in the top 17% of schools nationally. In addition, Mathematics is consistently one of the top performing subjects in the school at both GCSE and A-level in terms of both attainment and progress.
The Curriculum
The school operates a 50 period two week timetable. In Year 9, students are taught Mathematics for 7 hours per fortnight and this rises to 8 hours in Years 10 and 11. A-level students are taught for 9 hours per fortnight and we offer both Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
Our Facilities
Our facilities are excellent; Mathematics has a suite of large, comfortable classrooms with a staff office at its centre. The school’s wireless network is very robust and enables us to use the mathematics department iPads effectively - and a number of Sixth Form students also bring their own devices with them. Students and staff also have remote access to the school’s network, their files and relevant software.
Living Here
Corfe Hills School is in a fabulous location within easy reach of Bournemouth and its beaches, Poole and its harbour, the Jurassic Coast and the Dorset countryside. The school serves the catchment area of Broadstone, Corfe Mullen and the wider area and we truly believe that all of our students are exceptional.
Application Process
We would be delighted to discuss this role further with you. Ordinarily we would offer prospective applicants the opportunity of an informal visit to the school. Current circumstances do not allow this so instead we invite you to arrange an informal conversation with Jade Pollett, Mathematics Faculty Leader. To arrange a visit or for further details please contact jpollett@corfehills.net.
Application forms can be obtained from the school’s website www.corfehills.net
Closing Date
9 am on Monday 20 April 2020
Applications will be considered as they are submitted, and the school reserves the right to interview suitable applicants before the deadline. It is anticipated that interview will be via. Microsoft Teams / Skype.
