What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher of Mathematics to GCSE level, committed to facilitating high levels of progress and engagement, creating a stimulating and inclusive classroom ethos for all. The Mathematics team consists of a strong combination of experienced and recently qualified teachers who are supportive of one another and committed to collaboration. The faculty offers access to events such as the UK Maths Challenge and UKMT Team Maths Challenges, and we are continuously looking for ways to enrich our students' curriculum, including competitions and enrichment sessions after school.

This post is suitable for teachers at any stage of their career including ECTs and teachers trained to teach primary age children who are looking for a new challenge.

Langley School staff, governors and students are committed to the safeguarding and welfare of students and staff. Pre-employment checks in line with KCSIE will be carried out for successful applicants.

The safeguarding responsibilities of the position are detailed in the Job Description and Person Specification.

As the work of this post involves working with children, adults at risk or in a position of trust, it is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Please note that Disclosure & Barring Service clearance at the appropriate level will be required for this post.

Where this post meets the definition of Regulated Activity (as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012) the barred list for children will be checked. You must disclose details of all unfiltered reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions as these will be disclosed by the DBS. It is an offence to apply for a role which involves regulated activity by an applicant who is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.

What the school offers its staff

At Langley, we prioritise positive relationships between staff and students. We are incredibly proud of the way our staff and young people work collaboratively to fulfil our school motto ‘to be the best we can be’. Langley is a wonderful place to work and learn. We are a committed, compassionate community united in our mission to being fully inclusive, celebrating diversity and promoting equality in all that we do. Every learner matters and matters equally at Langley.

In our recent Ofsted Inspection Report from March 2023, inspectors described Langley as ‘an inclusive, welcoming school’ where ‘pupils behave well in lessons’ and there is a ‘calm and purposeful atmosphere around the school’.

Our school’s fundamental principles focus on supporting, challenging and inspiring the whole Langley community ‘to be the best that we can be’. But these are not simply words on paper. Students, staff and governors genuinely give all they can, to bring those principles to life every day. Examinations are critically important, of course, and our students achieve superbly well in them, but we truly believe in developing young people to deal with the tests of their lifetime, not merely to endure a lifetime of tests. Everyone who visits us comments on the unique ethos of our school as well as our commitment to inclusivity.
